Fantasy Baseball Hot Stove Says:
You can't find a flaw in Joakim Soria's splits. He had a 36:8 K:BB against lefties and a 35:8 K:BB against righties. He had a 2.19 ERA on the road and a 1.54 ERA at home. His WHIP was 1.14 in the first half and 0.95 in the second half. Even in a two team league this guy is safe to play every night.
Given that Soria was a top 70 player last season and the numbers don't let on that there aren't any flaws, there's a good reason he's ranked 74th. He plays the riskiest position in fantasy baseball. In 2009, Soria owners understood the risk side of the risk/reward of top quality closers when he was placed on the disabled list in May with a rotator cuff injury and surgery was a possibility. Mariano Rivera doesn't grow on trees - that's why he's going to Cooperstown five years after he retires despite playing in an era where most players are put under a microscope for Hall consideration. Let's not forget that Jonathan Papelbon, Jonathan Broxton, and Joe Nathan (for leagues that drafted before his big announcement) were all taken way too soon last year.
Projection: You can make a case that this is the top reliever on the board in drafts this season.
37 saves 3 wins 2.03 ERA 1.04 WHIP 77 K in 70 innings
