Key Stats: On the surface Michael Bourn took a step back from his top 70 season in 2009. He had 9 less steals, his average dipped 20 points, and the production around him (Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee mostly) was awful leading to him scoring 13 less runs.
That's all on the surface though. Dig a little deeper, and Bourn's season was actually not bad at all compared to 2009. He increased his walk rate by half a percent and decreased his strikeout rate by almost 3%. Bourn missed 16 more games. If he had played in those, he would have finished with 94 runs (3 less than his 2009 total) and 58 steals (3 less than his 2009 total).
Projection: Bourn hit for a higher average, a higher OPS, and had a better steals percentage in the second half last year. Look for him to build upon that momentum in route to a top 100 season in 2011.
