Stubbs, who was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft, may have been one of the most unappreciated fantasy baseball players in the game last season. Only seventeen players in MLB, including Stubbs, stole at least 30 bases in 2010 and none of them – not even Hanley Ramirez – hit more long balls (22) than him. The multi-tooled outfielder hit .281 with 11 home runs after the All-Star break, including a torrid 19-game stretch in which he slammed seven homers, hit .323 (21 for 65) and stole four bases. His home-away and left-right splits weren't drastically different, a good indication he's putting it all together at the plate.

Fantasy Baseball Hot Stove Says:
Only two outfielders had at least 20 home runs and 30 steals last season. They were Alex Rios and Drew Stubbs. Only one of those players is getting absolutely no respect from CBS or ESPN.
Stubbs sort of came out of nowhere, but he was the 46th best player in fantasy in September of 2009. If a guy is in his mid-20s, was a former first round pick, and has a month like he did to close the year two seasons ago, we can't just dismiss it. Yet he was dismissed last year, and he's being dismissed again this year. This guy was ranked 65th overall last season. For some reason many of the publications are ranking him a full 100 spots below that value to start this season. At the same time this publication and Fox Sports disagree. Given the large descripancy on Stubbs, he's going to be a complete wild card in all drafts.
While the 22 home runs look good, Stubbs only hit 19 doubles last year. That's what caused his OPS to be a humble .773. Given his speed, you would have to figure that many of those doubles weren't exactly crushed either. The fact that he struck out almot 33% of the time isn't good either. It will be hard for the Reds to justify putting a guy that is more than 3 times more likely to strikeout than draw a walk up toward the top of the lineup.
One other thing to consider when selecting Stubbs is that he is the kind of outfielder that needs to be put in and out of the lineup a lot. He is streaky and clearly a weaker hitter away from home.
Projection: The home runs could go down a little since his fly ball rate seemed high last year, but it's tough to tell for sure given that it was his first full year.

I have a confession, there’s no easy way to do these sleeper posts. A sleeper in a 15 team league is undraftable in a 10 team league. A sleeper in a 10 team league is muy obviousmente in a 15 team league. Last year, I got some guff for calling Carlos Gonzalez a sleeper because everyone in anything deeper than a 10 team league knew about him. In a ten team league, people were excited to know about him. I mention this because I feel Drew Stubbs is in the same boat this year. Last year, he put up a line of 91/22/77/.255/30. To think a guy who went 22/30 is a sleeper is laughable in some leagues. If you’re in a 15 team league and you don’t know about Drew Stubbs, well, to paraphrase Walter Sobchak, you’re out of your league, Donny. So if you know all about Drew Stubbs, skip ahead to the comments and compliment me on the fullness of my mustache. I already sopped up my Stubbs fantasy with a ShamWow. I almost put Stubbs up above Victorino in the top 20 outfielders. Oh em gee, right? I kinda love him, but like my Native American friends I have some reservations. If Dusty Baker only gives Stubbs 250 ABs, it wouldn’t surprise me at all. Why? Because Dusty’s effin’ loco. If Stubbs hits .210, it also wouldn’t surprise me. If Baker’s crazy tendencies and Stubbs’ average break right, Stubbs could be a top ten outfielder. 2011 Projections: 95/18/65/.260/32
