Fantasy Baseball Hot Stove Says:
Don't let the games played number fool you. Tyler Colvin may have appeared in 135 games, but the 358 at-bats is an indication that he could have added to his rather pedestrian 60 runs and 56 RBI last year. Colvin entered 29 games as either a pinch hitter or pinch runner last season which severely limited his ability to add to his stats. As it was, he hit 20 home runs in those 358 at-bats - very impressive for a guy that never even got a look at AAA pitching.
Colvin did not have a good batting average and did not have a lot of steals last season. As a minor leaguer, he hit .277 and hasn't stolen double digit bags since he was in A ball back in 2007. He was a wonderful source of power last season, but even with a full year of at-bats in 2011, Colvin's 19.4% HR:FB rate is expected to come down a ways. In other words, Colvin has a chance to be a total flop.
Projection: Colvin could hit third for this team. Derrek Lee is gone, and while Marlon Byrd had a decent year I don't know if 12 home runs is what you want from your number three hitter.
85 R 26 HR 92 RBI 8 SB .262 AVG .837 OPS

Razzball Says:
You’re looking at a guy who should get around 20 homers and a handful of steals, assuming you don’t have Alfonseca hands. Though I’m legitimately concerned he’s going to hit just .240, have homers in the teens and be unusable. 2011 Projections: 70/25/80/.265/10
