Fantasy Baseball Hot Stove Says:
For a 4 year stretch of time, Grady Sizemore averaged 116 runs, 29 steals, 27 home runs and 160 games played. Considering that the most any one player scored all of last season was 115 runs, the fact that a guy averaged more than that for a 4 year period is worthy of serious attention. This guy also happens to be just 28 years old heading into next season. Most fantasy analysts would have you know that is not a time for a mighty decline to take place.
Ignore the elephant in the room that is Sizemore's recent history with injuries for a just a second. The three stats presented above would put him in the company of Carlos Gonzalez who was the best player in fantasy baseball last year. Unfortunately for Sizemore, fantasy baseball is more than just two categories. His career batting average is only .272 and in only 10 of his 821 career games has he hit third through fifth in the batting order, so one would think Cleveland would resist moving him for hitting first or second, and thus he would not have an opportunity to be an RBI producer. In other words, if healthy, Sizemore is a three category player.
If healthy. Sizemore had to go to the DL for the first time in his career in May of 2009 and has since missed more than two-thirds of the Indians games. He eventually required elbow surgery in 2009. This past season he needed to have microfracture surgery on his knee. Not that he's going to have the same problems as someone like Greg Oden recovering, but when one of his three biggest tools to fantasy teams is stealing bases, it's not encouraging to have such a serious procedure done to his knee. Given that he had the surgery done in June, it's far from a guarantee that he'll be ready for the start of the season (recovery time can take about nine months).
Projection: The other sites are too optimistic. Even if Sizemore is healthy, does he return to his form of 2005-2008? Timing, conditioning, and the 162 game season are huge challenges. If he does stay healthy, talk to me in 2012.
90 R 19 HR 63 RBI 23 SB .270 AVG .860 OPS

Razzball Says:
*Grey shrugs* That’s me answering your pregunta about whether or not Sizemore will be healthy. He’ll only be 28 years old for the majority of the 2011 season. It’s not like he’s old like, say, Carlos Belchran. Sizemore should have some left in the tank if his gams and mollywhoppers are at a 100%. If I have one single question mark in the first few rounds of my draft, I wouldn’t touch Sizemore. If I’m pretty confident with the guys I take up front, then I could see gambling on him. 2011 Projections: 90/18/65/.270/22
